Summertime – And Unplugging is Easy! 3 Unusual Ways to Unplug & Reconnect™!

Summer has officially arrived and what better way to spend it than Unplugging & Reconnecting™. Here are three unusual ways we like to Unplug & Reconnect when the weather is calling us outdoors.

  1. U&R Lunch Break -These first days of summer when it’s not sweltering hot yet are a great time to take a mini U&R session during your lunch break.  Here at our U&R headquarters, we are lucky to have a beautiful deck attached to our office. On a sunny day, I love to brew an iced coffee and sit in the sun and recharge my soul. I leave my cell phone on my desk and any work stress inside. I allow my thoughts to wander wherever they wish for 30 minutes and then I find myself powered up with enough energy to finish the work day and attend to my family afterwards. Other ways to U&R on your lunch break include taking a walk, guided mediation or breathing, or catching a quick exercise class.
  2. Go Foraging for Food – You might be surprised how many edible plants you can find in the season, even if you live in a city. What better way to reconnect with Mother Nature than by searching for her sun ripened fruits. Now is the time to pick wild blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, herbs and more. If you can’t find anything wild in your locale, look for Pick Your Own farms that allow you to recreate the same experience. Nothing tastes better than food you worked to find!
  3. Be an Anthropologist – You many not have time to travel overseas for two weeks, but many large cities have their own version of European, Middle Eastern, Latin American or Asian cities. Learn a few words in another language and take your skills to one of these places. Interact with the people, search through the shops and taste the authentic cuisine.

These are just a few ways we like to spend our time. Let us know how you reconnect with others, nature or yourself. We can’t wait to share your ideas!
